It goes by fast and my little girl is changing so much each day. I decided to stop and jot down 10 things that I noticed today that made me smile
1. messy eating
2. nursing and cuddles
3. the reaction she makes when she spots a ceiling fan
4. smiles
5. little feet making music (I wonder if watching a baby use their feet to play a toy piano inspired this band?)
6. giggles
7. raspberries (not the kind you eat)
8. dancing to the beatles together
9. waking up to babbling (best way to start the day!!!)
10. little waving hands

There I said it
Why is it that people think its OK to touch your belly when you are pregnant? Seriously! Even complete strangers. I just don't get it.
Why do people think you want them to tell you how to parent your child? If I want advice I am very capable of asking for it, thanks.
What is with people who tell you their horror stories about labor when you are 2 weeks from your due date?
What is up with mothers who smoke while holding their child, have they not heard the research?
There I said it.

Nice Wheels
This morning my family decided to start off the new year with a long walk. It was an absolutely gorgeous day here in Boston but with the blizzard that we had last week I was not sure how far we would be able to go before getting stuck. I am very happy to say that our B.O.B. plowed right through the snow we ran into!
It gives me a little hope of getting fresh air this winter. I had gotten into the habit of walking about five miles every morning with my daughter over the summer and it was something that I looked forward to each day. Once it got cold out I stopped and I have really missed that time with nature.
For Christmas I received the weather shield for the stroller. Its like a little tent for the stroller to help keep my daughter warm. Now we will be able to start back up with our walks even if its cold or there is snow on the ground.
If you are in the market for a stroller I highly recommend the B.O.B. It is great for jogging, hiking on trails, the beach and even the snow!

It's about time
An article in yesterday's Boston Globe announced that BPA will now be banned for use in bottles and sippy cups. Read more here State bans bottles and cups with BPA
I am definitely happy to hear about this and agree that the ban should go even further to remove this chemical from children toys. After reading that BPA can leach through breast milk I found this article listing companies that do not use BPA in their canned goods. 7 Companies You Can Trust to Use BPA-free Cans
This is the sippy cup we use and it is great, it is a little heavy when filled with water so we only fill it half way at this point.

My breast friend
Seriously! This thing is awesome. I own a boppy and a breast friend and I have used both extensively. By a landslide the breast friend is easier to use and more comfortable. A strap wraps around you and there is a padded piece in the back to lean on. The front has two raised portions which help to elevate your baby's head so it is correctly positioned for feeding.
At this point (7 month old baby) I only use it when I am nursing and pumping at the same time, but I am able to do both these things hands free with its help.
